A Ready Hope: Effective Disaster Ministry for Congregations
2009 The Alban Institute
Faith-based organizations and the people who serve them could increase their effectiveness  if they knew about how the disaster response system operates before, during, and after a disaster. Based on what I learned following several hurricanes in the Gulf Coast region, I wrote this book to help congregational leaders prepare their own congregations; understand what typically happens following a disaster; and prepare those who decide to go volunteer to help clean up after  a disaster in another  area. The book is available from amazon.com or alban.org.

40-Day Journey with Kathleen Norris
2008 Augsburg Fortress
This book project found me and I'm glad it did. It led me deep into the writings of Kathleen Norris a truly creative gifted thinker. 'Twas a delightful task pulling together 40 day's worth of writings from her several books on how faith is interwoven with everyday life and events. The book is designed for a personal or small group six-week retreat. Available from amazon.com or augsburgfortress.org.

God in the Raging Waters: Stories  of Love and Service  Following Hurricanes  Katrina and Rita
2006. Augsburg Publishing.
I was both fascinated and mortified by the destruction caused by the twin terrors named Katrina and Rita in 2005. I was invited almost immediately to help respond to the hundreds of phone calls and e-mails pouring into our Lutheran Gulf Coast Synod office. This eventually led to offering to help our Bishop Paul Blom tell the story of the amazing response of the faith community to the horrific suffering of the people and congregations in our region. Available from amazon.com or augsburgfortress.org.

Married and Mobile: Making a Move that's Right for You
1984. Augsburg Fortress
After my fourth cross country move in five years I decided to take a time out from the tyranny of the brown boxes to write a book about moving. Having dragged two amazingly cooperative children-turned young teens through as four school systems, I had opinions about the impact of mobility on the trailing relatives who uproot to follow careers wherever they may lead. I have all the remaining copies in my home office. You might find used copies via amazon.com or you can order it directly from me.
